SIMPLY PERFECT

It seems like the devil I might be wearing Prada sooner than I thought. I was not really planning on buying them, plus my size seemed nowhere to be found. But then after lurking through the closed doors of the Prada store at Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon for two days – damn you Christmas – I walked in to find myself doubting not only between two colors, but also between two sizes. Nude or black, nude or black? For a moment there, I lost all common sense and wanted to pull the trigger on both – ok black, whereas I can still hear the voice of that little inside-devil whispering I should get the nude ones as well.

The shop-assistant was somehow on a mission to sell me a 37,5 – stating Prada sizing is incorrect and I should size down – which I just wanted to take off right after putting them on and so I took my actual size.

So, why not Louboutin? Because they hurt like nasty paper cuts and I think the kind of hidden golden emblem on the soles of the shoes I went for is way more sexy than the red sole story we learned ourselves to believe.

SMALL GUIDE TO LISBON

Now do not get me wrong, of course I am in no case a Lisbon expert, but these are the places I enjoyed the most.

To eat
My favorite restaurant of the week was definitely Fabulas (Calcada Nova de Sao Francisco 14). The food was super duper delicious and I fell head over heels with the interior.

Also,
Storik, Rua do Alecrim 30B-30D – yummy ‘flammes’ to share.
Lost in Esplanada, Rua D.Pedro V No. 56 – I love little ‘hidden’ places like these.
Casanova, Avenida Infante D. Henrique, Cais da Pedra 7 – the best wood oven pizzas.
Portas do Sol, Largo Das Portas do Sol – for the best view!

To shop
Fashion Clinic, Tivoli Fórum Store 5 – Paris’ Colette of Lisbon.
Fashion Clinic Outlet, Rua Jorge Barradas 22B – need I say more?
Luvaria Ulisses, Rua do Carmo 87A – for the most beautiful leather gloves.
Bertrand, Via Dr. Vasco Teixeira 370 – the world’s oldest bookstore.

I would surely avoid the massive shopping malls, unless you need something from Zara, Mango, H&M, Uterqüe, etc.

To see/do
Take a ride with tram 28.
Enjoy the view from Miradouro das Portas do Sol.
Go to LX Factory, we did not have time to go there, but I Googled and I would definitely want to visit on my next trip.
Visit the Mude Design Museum, the entrance is free and I was very much impressed by everything on the ground floor.

To stay
During my five day trip to Lisbon, I stayed at the Evidencia Astoria Creative Hotel, located on a street near the luxury shopping street Avenida da Liberdade and the largest park in the city. Apart from a pretty good location, I thought the building was quite impressive and the rooms looked super nice. Since this was the only bed I slept in during my stay, I would not know what other hotels to recommend, though I was told Fontana Park Hotel (Rua Engenheiro Vieira da Silva 2) and Memmo Alfama (Travessa das Merceeiras 27, opening in June 2013) are good.
