Some of you have been asking me about my experience with the lashes. It took me a while, but here it is (also, my first in a series of Tried & Tested)…
A couple of months ago, it seemed like the perfect idea to me to get longer lashes. You know, because I had this thing in my mind that my natural ones were pretty short, too short if you asked me.
After Googling for a solution and getting introduced to mink lashes, I could not quite figure out where to get them (you can not just let anyone work with glue near your eyes…). Anna sent me to Beauty by Lisa and the rest is history.
The ONLY thing (ok, two things) I did not like about them is 1. they were too long and 2. they were a bit too thick. I could not get used to the length and got them cut by a make-up artist after Vogue’s Rinke confirmed my thoughts. Hello good decision!
After happily rocking them for a week or five, six, they started to fall out and I decided to get some new ones added at a cheaper salon a few blocks down the road.
Hello not so good decision!
It took them about 20 minutes to give me a refill (while I was sniffing up the hypnotizing smell of acrylic nail glue) and I have to say I was surprised by how great they looked. I asked for the thinnest and shortest they had and those were perfect for me.
That was until they started falling out only after a few days and took (bits of) my own lashes with them, WAAHH! Ok, it sounds more horrible than it was (I can get pretty dramatic when it comes to exaggerating), but still, it kinda felt like my eyes were getting bald and that would have been a bad sight.
Lesson learned…I mean Beauty by Lisa was good (I would recommend getting her shortest and thinnest option though), but I am back to a loyal relationship with my mascara’s.
With the the denim issue slowly coming to an end (prepare for a month full on summer in July, including trips to Gran Canaria and LA!), I was thinking it is not really complete without a proper mention of Acne’s Pop denim. It has been around for a few seasons now – in all kinds of colors (including bright ones) and washings – and the first one I bought was the Trash version.
I remember doubting and wiggling around for about an hour in front of the mirror of the Acne store in Amsterdam (trust me I love that store, but their mirror gives me the fattest reflection I could possibly get), it almost convinced the girl working there that I changed careers and became a mystery shopper. Turns out it is one of the best super-doubt-but-got-it-anyways items I ever bought.
With the holes of that Pop Trash jeans getting bigger by day, I figured Acne made a ‘clean’ version to make me want to start all over again (with possible holes only appearing after wearing them to death, literally). Yep, I fell for it.
