IN SEARCH OF LITTLE SUN

Tags: , , ,

With Spring just around the corner, the anticipation of friendlier weather always gets to a point where it’s almost unbearable. Like probably any New Yorker, us Europeans too are impatiently waiting for the new season to kick off. And so Nicole and I decided to go on an imaginary road trip to Biarritz with a set of fresh coloured Ace & Tate frames in playful shapes to match our can’t wait for better weather outfits. All in search of a little sun.

A SNEAKER STORY

Sneakers are having what might be the biggest moment of their lives (they are literally everywhere, aren’t they?!) and I too wear them quite a LOT. I wear them with jeans and with skirts and I think they’re great with suit trousers. You know, to make a dressed up pant look completely casual. I don’t think I ever counted as many sneakers on the streets during Fashion Week as I did in New York this season and I am absolutely loving it. I remember I used to switch between heels and flats all day during Fashion Week – subway in, heels off, subway out, heels on – but eventually I came to the conclusion that wearing heels all day is just not my jam. Being comfortable is. Before I took off to New York (I am back by the way!) we created this story in collaboration with sneaker brand Meyba. Because to be completely honest, I love my over popular Stan Smiths, but I think it’s time for a new sneaker on our feet (even though this brand was founded in 1940). Anyway, I believe sneakers work for just about any occasion and If you don’t agree yet, here’s our proof.

J / JEWELRY

You all know by now how much I love my jewelry to be subtle, right? Well, remember Isabella? She is one half behind Ivy & Liv, a jewelry line filled with subtle gems. And apart from sharing little bits of it on Instagram, I (can’t believe I) never fully shared their Firefely collection lookbook that I shot last summer. I hope you like it!

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT / MILITARY

Last (but not least, ha!) in our The Kids Are All Right series is Moisha, showing how the military look is done. Military can be a bit tricky, especially because it can be quite the sensitive thing to be called a ‘trend’. But I do believe the right army green parka or strong boot (we call them ‘kistjes’ in Dutch) can look absolutely beautiful with the right dress. In Paris, I saw Italian stylist Viviana Volpicella in a short version of the military parka worn with a super chic mini dress from Valentino and flat shoes and I thought it was the perfect mix.

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT / DENIM

Is there anything other than denim that never really comes and goes, that is always just there though still can be called a trend? Maybe leather – in the form of a biker jacker – but eventually denim always wins. It’s been out there since the late 18th century and there is no doubt that it will stay until what…the end of time?

THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT / ROCK

Rebellious, raw and a little rough around the edges. It might seem like a tough trend to follow when you’re not the typical rock ‘n roll type of woman, but with a little femininity in the form of lace or a girly dress, rock becomes much softer (and thus easier to wear).

BEHIND THE SCENES AT VEDA

Tags: ,

A few weeks ago, when I was still playing house in a tiny room in Little Italy (New York), Veda shot their Spring/Summer 2015 lookbook. What started as a brand that made the perfect leather jacket a year ago, quickly grew into something very covetable I must say.

A JACKET’S TALE

Tags: ,

What better way to start thinking fall then doing it in Chanel? I mean it’s still early August, but we better start planning fall wardrobes on time. A Chanel jacket is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing in the entire universe, even – or dare I say especially? – when it’s one with stripes and a Dallas kind of vibe. So Nicole and I decided to switch roles for this one. I gave her a speedy course handling my camera (she sure already has a photographers eye if you ask me), while she on her hand helped me with the styling and ‘modeling’. I hope you like our jacket’s tale!!
