Kiki Boreel (19, Code Management) graduated from high school exactly one year ago and has been modeling full-time ever since. Her highlights so far? A Vogue Netherlands shoot at the beach and the Olympia Le-Tan show during Paris Fashion Week (‘I got to drink champagne before the show and had to pretend I was a naughty schoolgirl’). She tells us all about her love for Joey Tribbiani and Sudoku puzzles.
What’s your secret talent? Mathematics! Unfortunately I don’t get to use that talent a lot right now. It used to be my favorite subject in school. I know it sounds nerdy, but I really miss it. So now I enjoy doing Sudoku’s and solving puzzles. And I try to help my cousin with her math homework as much as I can.
What’s your favorite emoji? The octopus! It’s just so adorable. I use it whenever someone sends me something cute. But it ’s also fun to use it in a totally random way.
What’s your favorite song right now? The Nights by Avicii. It’s such an upbeat song! It puts me in a ‘seize the day’ mood. And I love anything by Norah Jones. My mother used to listen to her music a lot, and her voice is just so beautiful.
What’s your favorite place on earth? Probably Méribel in the south of France, where I go skiing with my family every year. I really love skiing, I’ve been doing it since I was 4 or 5 years old. Méribel is a great place, because you hardly see any other Dutch people there.
Who makes you laugh out loud? Joey from Friends! I’ve seen every episode twice. I just love how stupid he is. The dumb things he says really make me laugh.
Do you have a nickname? My friends usually call me Kiek or Kieks. But my brother always comes up with the craziest nicknames. He calls me Freek a lot – because my full name is actually Frederieke. Recently he started calling me Drilbert and I have no idea why!
What did you want to be when you were a kid? I made up my own dream job: a princess dancer! When I got a little older I wanted to be a doctor, which I still want. I’m enjoying modeling a lot, but I plan on studying Medicine in a few years.
What’s the first thing you pack when going on a trip? My big black biker jacket, which I found at a vintage store. It’s not too warm and not too cold, and it goes with every outfit. Plus it has big pockets that fit everything I need.
