HOW TO WEAR THE WHITE SHIRT

Say hello to my first in hopefully a long series of How To Wear. It is not really a guide on how to wear the item I am pointing out, more of a guide to myself, playing around with my own wardrobe…

HOW TO WEAR THE WHITE SHIRT

ALL PARISIANS WEAR HATS

All Parisians wear hats. Well not really, but a lot of them do. And Italians do too, at least when they’re in Paris. Like Italian editor/stylist Eva Geraldine Fontanelli, who I snapped right before the Balmain show in between thousands of girls waiting for Rihanna’s arrival (who apparently was already inside), in her beautiful Borsalino wide brimmed hat. I happen to have my very own beautiful wide brimmed Borsalino hat, but admittedly it hasn’t seen much daylight in what seems to be decades. I always feel like it needs a certain look, something super classy, almost suit-like. Eva – and all Parisians I am referring to in the title of this post – shows me otherwise, in her casual parka and lippy top. My usual most said phrase during Fashion Week ‘I need a sandwich’ made place for ‘I need that hat’. Maybe it had something to do with the continuous rain. That, plus the uncountable amount of uber chic women sporting one (probably mainly to prevent their hair from getting as fluffy as mine), made me regret not bringing my hat so so much. Especially this one time, when I had to run from the Acne Studios showroom to the Elie Saab show and there was no other option (I forgot the umbrella I bought/had to buy the day before) than run straight through the awful downfall. It is the perfect handsfree substitute for an umbrella and an instant chic.

While cleaning the house – this includes closet – a bit last Sunday – that is what Sundays are made for right? – I counted over 17 coats and jackets. 17? Yes, 17! It is not a mountain, but it sure is a decent pile. I also catched myself standing in a particular highstreet store holding a very nice wool coat for a bit too long a couple of weeks ago. I must say I am happy I put it back where it belonged, waiting for a good owner that is actually going to get some wear out of it. Anyway, back to the number 17.  While writing this post, I am wondering, how come I tend to wear the same coat over and over again? Wondering again, when did one single person need over 17 coats and jackets? Should I make a strict selection of 5 and sell the rest to be able to buy some new ones again? Oh and by the way, this hat is absolutely divine if I may say so myself.
