LEAVING FOR CASH & ROCKET

Sometimes when I put this shirt on I feel like a nurse. Birks on and the look is complete. I have been on the edge of selling it for a thousand times, but every single time I decide on putting it back in my closet. It doesn’t need much ironing – which I love for the most obvious reasons – and I am obsessed with the boxy shape of it.

TIMELESS (WATCH)

When it comes to jewelry, the one thing that is the ultimate timeless is a classic watch. Mine is from Efva Attling (same designer as that 8 ball necklace I always wear), a pretty simple black timepiece on a lizard printed strap. I also have a more hefty silver clock from Michael Kors. Some seasons I wear a watch almost every day, some seasons I don’t. It’s not the weather, it’s a certain type of thing that makes me want to loose track of time sometimes. My phone does also play a small part in this. Few of my friends own a classic Cartier or Rolex. They’re either hand-me-downs from their (great) grand parents or a very very chic birthday gift. Despite the fact that I believe a watch like that is the most timeless piece one can own, I would be way too afraid to lose it (the ability of loosing things is one of my unwanted superpowers). Hmm, maybe I am just not ready yet. Do you have a special watch? If so, what’s the story behind it? Watch, Efva Attling.

THE LIST #1

A new category on afterDRK.com featuring ‘what’s on our mind this month’, including but not limited to colors to wear, icons to follow, books to read, exhibitions to see, designers to watch and beauty stuff to buy. The List #1. The Color Winter white is what it is all about this month. It is the color of the coldest season and a definite style injection to rejuvenate ones wardrobe. White is the second easiest hue to wear head to toe – black being the first – and easy to mix with all kinds of other neutrals. If you are not feeling comfortable in a head to toe look in one tint, throw in a grey scarf or camel coat to still look your best. Avoid black unless it is shoes ór you are opting for the monochrome look à la Theory Pre-Fall ’14. The Designer Theory recently went from Theyskens’ Theory to just Theory without an official explanation from either the label or the designer. Nevertheless, their Pre-Fall 2014 collection is pretty amazing in its simplicity. Black, whites, nudes and just one piece of gray, showed mostly with Margiela-style (in a good way!) wide waist belts. Great pants, well tailored shirts and perfect blazers are really all we need next Fall (or anytime for that matter). The Icon Chinese model Tian Yi is not only kicking it big time when it comes to launching her career (she only started in 2011, so she is still kind of a newcomer), her street style is just fresher than fresh. She appeared on our sartorial radar only a little while ago, but has been a regular on our Pinterest Style board ever since. The Statement Accessory It’s been said once and it will be said again. Monogrammed or number-stamped necklaces (8 stands for luck in Chinese) are great compliment recipients. They are perfect for everyday wear and – apart from gétting a lot of compliments – gift compliments to just about any outfit too. The Must-See In celebration of her 40th(!) birthday, Kate gets her own exhibition by journalist-turned-artist Russel Marshall. Kate Moss: 40 – A Retrospective will be held at the Intimate Modern Gallery in London from January 17 until February 15. Smart Fashion Week timing. The Beauty Buy In an attempt to take the style resolutions serious, all lip balms got ditched and replaced by Hurraw!, a 100% natural/vegan/raw/fair trade/organic (how LA!) option that doesn’t melt. The first and most effortless step to an all green and clean beauty cabinet. Pictures by Terry Richardson (Kate Moss) and Theory (via Style.com), rest by Sabrina Meijer.

SOMETHING TINY

Tags: ,

This necklace from Efva Attling is probably the one item from my wardrobe I get the most questions and compliments about. Obviously the fact that I have been wearing it non-stop since I got it helps receiving more compliments than the items that get to see the sun only once in a while, but I think it is quite funny that something so tiny apparently gets the most attention. Would be interesting – and quite obsessive – to count the amount of positive reactions per item per hour, no? See if this little bastard would still be the winner.

After wearing orange for a day – did we screw up that game or what – I decided to step into the comfort zone and spend my sunday celebrating our 3d anniversary and my dad’s birthday in the usual black, white and grey. I do not know what it is with me and the relationship I do not have with color, but it just works for me. (And I kind of blame it on the weather as well.) Maison Martin Margiela jacket, COS t-shirt (boyfriend), Mango jeans and heels and Kurt Geiger bag.

As I stated before, I love to dig through my boyfriends pile of clothes every once in a while. Actually, I have been walking around in things from his wardrobe for the past few days every single day. There is just something about menswear that I am really drawn to. Something does not always have to be fitted to be sexy. As long as there is this female touch, whether that is found in the shoes – in my case – or in something as small as a red lipstick, you are good to go. Selected shirt (boyfriend), Acne jeans, Zara shoes and Kurt Geiger bag.

This outfit really truly is typical me. My go-to outfit consists good pair of jeans, a nice top and a jacket and I am ready to go. I have recently re-discovered this longsleeve I bought about a year and a half ago and I can not understand why I have not worn it for such a long time. Maybe it is because I sold a lot of my old clothes during Queensday and I am therefor able to see what clothes I actually own again. The weekend went by so fast it feels like I blinked my eyes just once or twice and it is Monday again. I am attending my very first movie premiere tonight together with my Fashion Week partner in crime Anna and my thoughts on what to wear (black tie) is going back and forward from a black simple dress to a suit. A black simple dress or a suit? I tend to wear the suit, but I am not completely sure yet. I just have to wait and see what I am in the mood for tonight, I am sure we are going to have tons of fun anyway, the movie (Dutch movie Jackie) seems to be good.
