THE ULTIMATE COMFORT

Tags: , , , ,

It was early October last year when I spotted model Tian Yi exciting the Chloé venue in Paris in a super cool off-duty ensemble and Teva sandals. I repeat, Teva sandals. Back then I asked myself – and you – is this the new Birkenstock?

SPRING, WHERE ART THOU?

Tags: , , , ,

After a couple of days of full on showers it finally stopped raining in Amsterdam. Ugh. Looking at my ensemble, this so called Spring season could have easily be mistaken for Fall. Fuzzy sweaters, secret layers underneath and – ok then – a thin pair of trousers. Spring, where art thou? Sweater, H&M; Silk Pants, Isabel Marant [very old]; Shoes, Adidas [Stan Smith]; Bag, Kenzo.

THE WARDROBE REVIVAL ISSUE

April showers, May flowers? While we haven’t had too many rainy days this month and I personally like to call April ‘full on Spring’ already, the warmer months are officially upon us and I am more than happily ready for them.

BORROWING FROM THE BOYS

Tags: , , , , , ,

Taking a walk on the masculine side is more the rule rather than the exception when it comes to my personal style. I absolutely love borrowing from the boys, whether it’s slouchy pants, boyfriend blazers or – in this case – oversized shirts. There is just something so chic about a mens inspired look and it works for just about any occasion. Think grabbing a coffee in a crisp white oversized cotton shirt, silk pants and quite the hefty sandal…oh wait that is my look! Ok, then think a pantsuit. It is made for our counterparts, but honestly looks way better on us, right? Or take a man flat and mix them with the perfectly cut boyfriend denim (oh, how I wish I managed to somehow fit my Acne Pop jeans in this story) and a super feminine top on top. Now back to the shirt, even though I found my holy grail of menswear shirts in the women’s department at Rika not so long ago, I am yet to add the white version to my wardrobe. Until then, Lesley’s wrinkle free (it is seriously quite impossible to get this shirt any creases) shirt will have to do. Consider this part one in a series of mannish sartorialism. Borrowing from the boys is too much fun to put it all in one post. To be continued… In the meantime, tell me about your favorite masculine ensemble. Cashmere Sweater, Zara; Shirt, H&M (men’s department); Silk Pants, Étoile by Isabel Marant; Sandals, Birkenstock; Sunglasses, Ray-Ban; Pouch, Prada.

ALL BLACK EVERYTHING

As you are reading this, I am walking around Paris to hunt down the coolest bag and other good things that are just better when bought in the city of romance. I kind of restricted myself to visit no more than three stores, since there is more things to do than just shopping, right? One of the stores I am planning to pay a visit is & Other Stories, is it worth it? I have to be honest and say that from what I saw online, I am not convinced by the clothes (and shoes) yet, but the accessories and especially the beauty stuff looks quite good! (I NÉÉD all that Stop the Water stuff!) Concerning the bag hunt… I always tend to fall for black bags, but as you can see I already wear a lot of black, so another color would probably be a better choice, no? Maybe I should take it step by step and get something subtle before I go orange or whichever other bright color. Maybe burgundy, or forest green. They both go well with black… Choices, choices. On other ‘making choices’ notes, I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for a long long time now, but the more I think about it, the more questions pop up in my head. Like, how long should I wait to get used to the idea and to make sure I will not regret it afterwards? Do you have one? How long did you wait? What did you get? Does it mean anything to you? Is it addictive? Is it a good idea to get inked somewhere visible? Like on my arm? Or would it be better to choose a spot that I will not be able to see without using a mirror (just so that I won’t get sick of it from seeing it too often)? ps: I would love to share what I have in mind, but I want to wait until I am completely sure myself. Top, Zara; Pants, Étoile by Isabel Marant; Sandals, Birkenstock; Sunglasses, Filippa K.

These photos were obviously taken yesterday, wearing the simplest of all simpleness and the comfiest of all comfiness (that is probably not correct English, but you get the point) to pick up this giant bag filled with clothes for me to wear in the big apple. I am hopping on an airplane straight to Fashion Week madness in a few hours and I can not quite decide what I am most excited about. Watching the shows, seeing the fashionpack again or just being in that awesome city. Oh and as requested, a better picture of my Nikes. I was wearing a COS top, Étoile by Isabel Marant pants and shoes from Nike.
