OUR OWN i-D

Tags: , ,

Starting in 1980 as a hand-stapled(!) fanzine with text produced on a typewriter, i-D Magazine came a looong way. A Thursday ago they launched their Benelux version together with denim tastemakers Diesel and I have to admit my pinky toe is still a little numb from the heels I wore to the party. (I am crossing my fingers it will be back alive and kicking by tomorrow.) In this oversaturated world of (online) magazines and blogs, I can only praise how i-D has always managed to maintain their signature wink eyed spirit. With my ‘history’ as a graphic designer, how can I not love the fact that their logo tipped on its side is a winking smiley? In addition, to celebrate the launch of Diesel’s We Are Connected campaign, I wore a star printed denim jacket from their newest collection buttoned all the way up (which is my current favorite way to wear a denim jacket.) Also, i-D did a little Q&A with me and you can read all about it HERE. *wink This post was created in collaboration with i-D and Diesel.

24 HOURS IN FIRENZE

One day you are shopping for a plant at Ikea, the next day you find yourself on the first plane to Italy. Tommy Hilfiger invited me to Firenze for the launch event of their Tommy Hilfiger x Blauer limited edition outerwear collection. There are only 200 pieces in each of the four styles and the cool part is that every piece will have its own unique number. I already picked my favorite! I arrived at the hotel pretty early and got hooked up with the most amazing room ever, or should I say apartment? I was staying in the Torre Monalda suite and had a gorgeous 360-degree view over Firenze and its surroundings. Around 6pm a New York city cab picked me up to drive me to the event held at the Tommy Hilfiger store at Piazza Degli Antinori, which was packed with cool people. We ended the night having dinner at a real Italian restaurant and I have to say there weren’t many hours left to take a nap before I had to go back to the airport. I wore a Zadig & Voltaire top, H&M Trend leather skirt and Mango shoes.

ROLAND GARROS

Wearing Eudon Choi leather jacket and leather top, Étoile by Isabel Marant pants, Mango shoes Anna and me Before I went to Paris, I had never ever seen a tennis game in my entire life…not even on tv that is. When I was asked to come to Roland Garros I was not expecting I would love it this much. I mean, seeing Rafael Nadal play is no complaining material of course, but the game itself gave me goosebumps. Apart from discovering that I am a huge tennis fan, I also got to visit the cellars of Moët & Chandon, got to cook with their star chef – who also happens to be Scarlett Johansson’s favorite chef – and went to have a vintage dinner at the old hunting lodge of the Moët & Chandon family. A vintage dinner is a three course dinner with a (different) vintage champagne matching the courses. Very special and above all indescribably delicious. We ended our trip having dinner at George on top of the Centre Pompidou, one of my favorite places of Paris since my almost-interview with mr. Karl Lagerfeld. ph/ Anna Nooshin

These pics were shot just a day before I left for New York Fashion Week, at the COS store in Amsterdam, to celebrate their opening in the 9 streets. I already extensively expressed my love for this chic H&M-sister (or brother, choose whichever you like), but I thought I’d share once more. The clothes are – most of the time – very well tailored, cut out of good fabric and simple, but always with a little difference about it. Just how I like it…

CHANEL LE VERNIS

Tags: ,

Just came back from a Chanel nailpolish workshop. They showed me their new jeans and April, May and June colors and I got my nails done (in the color June, if anyone’s wondering). I haven’t been wearing that much nailpolish lately, but these colors make me wish for spring to start early and have my nails in a different color each and every day. Or maybe each and every month and follow the bottle’s names.

Bloggers Yara Michels, Liza Chloë van Duyn, fashion director Renu Kashyap, SpicePR girl Farah Aznam-Tiwow, dj Claire Timmermans and I will go on the hunt for items that kinda disappeared in the back of our closets, items that want to get adopted by a new owner, an owner that will treat the items well and love them more than we could ever do. Those items will be sold at Roest (Czaar Peterstraat 213, Amsterdam) on November 26th from 12.00 to 16.00. More info will follow soon, but if you already want to RSVP, you can do it here on Facebook. ps/ There will be goodiebags. Lots of them!

Last Thursday, Filippa K opened a new store in the Wolvenstraat in Amsterdam and when Filippa K throws a party, you know it’s going to be good. There was barely any place to stand left between the clothing racks, extremely crowded. Crowded in a good way though. ph/ Lisa Galesloot

GRAZIA’S FASHION TRAIN

Tags: , ,

I’m not really known as a morning person, but imagine it’s a Tuesday, 5.45am and your alarm clock goes off because you are invited to hop on Grazia magazine’s Fashion Train for a flashtrip to Paris. It’s no problem for me to jump out of bed early when it’s for a fun day like this. We took the train at 8 in the morning and started off with cupcakes in champagne (yes…champagne…at 8am).  At first I was a little hesitant regarding the champagne, but it tastes the same as it does at night anyway, so I just went along with everyone else. As soon as we arrived in Paris, it was time for lunch at Ralph’s, an amazingly delicious lunch that it, with shrimps, salmon and carrot cake, yummm. After lunch, there was only 2 hours left for shopping and since we all wanted something different, we decided for Printemps and Lafayette. I was looking for a new wallet, cause mine has given up on me and its zippers, but I couldn’t find a nice replacement. I didn’t leave Paris empty handed though, there was a huge goodiebag waiting for us at Gare du Nord and I got myself 4 tiny Eiffel Towers (just in case I’m ever going to need those) and a Vogue Paris.
