BOYFRIEND DENIM

Tags: , , , , ,

Here is the jeans in full top to bottom, albeit still hidden underneath a thick pile of other garments. I guess they are particularly good in summer with a chic pair of slides and either a silk crisp white shirt and a red lippy (plus the perfect cross body bag, where art thou?). Did I just sense a little LA homesickness? Or is it the vitamin D that I miss? Since the sun seems to be holiday-ing in some place far, far away and I am not going somewhere tropical anytime soon, I thought I’d try and make it work with my current winter wardrobe. Some think boyfriend denim are made to be saved for the warmer seasons – especially when they’re a light wash like these – I personally think they work all year around. It might be a little harder to find the right boot to pair them with, but they just don’t deserve to be tucked away come fall and winter. Happy Sunday! Coat, COS; Leather Jacket, Acne Studios; T-Shirt, American Apparel; Jeans, MiH; Boots, Balenciaga; Scarf, Acne Studios.

SWEATER WEATHER

I am sure that in most European countries sweater weather has already started what seems like a long long time ago. In LA, it started just last week. And while I am typing this we’re actually back to quite the bikini weather again. Sweater weather barely even exists around here. Let alone turtle neck weather… Which means I probably would not have gotten this knit if I would permanently live on the West Coast, even though it does come in quite handy at night when it gets chilly. It is funny how you always kind of know how a change of location influences the way you dress – and shop for that matter – but you only realize how much it réally changes when you are actually there. Once I get back in Amsterdam, this is going to be my second home. Hey, it is big enough to live in! Knit, Céline; Jeans, Genetic Denim; Sandals, Birkenstock; Bag, Kurt Geiger; Sunglasses, Ray-Ban.

REVERSED LAYERING

Tags: , , , , , ,

Can Los Angeles weather get anymore perfect? This city seriously has the perfect temperature to make all my sartorial wishes come true. Leather jackets over summer dresses and ankle boots? Check. Shorts mixed with chunky sweaters and (socks in) sandals? This sun has it all covered. It even works for my first experiment in reversed layering. I am not sure if there are more to come, but since there was a bit too much blazer showing up underneath my leather bestie, I thought it would be a good idea to try them the other way around, with my boxy boyfriend blazer functioning as the coat of the two. Blazer, T by Alexander Wang; Leather Jacket, Acne; Shirt, Zara; Skirt, Rika; Shoes, Converse; Bag, Kurt Geiger.

AU REVOIR PARIS

Au revoir Paris! After more than a month of almost non-stop traveling I am back home in Amsterdam for some days. Days that I am going to fully dedicate on a fashion detox. My back and shoulders are a little sore from all the camera lifting and suitcase dragging, so I went for a deep tissue/RSI-combat massage first this morning. Other than that, I am going to drink liters and liters of green tea (no more croissant and meringue for me!) and go running like a mad woman to get rid of the croissants, pains au chocolat and meringues sticking to my behind. Next stop, LA! Jacket, Acne; Jeans, Dr Denim; Shoes, Balenciaga; Bag, Kurt Geiger. Picture by Anna Nooshin.

FIRST OF THE FIVE

It is official, my 5 piece French wardrobe game is on and the first of my five buys (counting from September 1st to February 28th (no it is not going to be easy, but definitely worth trying!)) is this leather jacket from Acne. It is their all-time classic piece and even though it is +24 degrees outside in Paris, I haven’t taken it off since I bought it two days ago. Who said leather is not seasonless? Now if I would want to cheat, I could file this under ‘basics that don’t count’, since a leather jacket is obviously an investment piece that lasts literally for ages. I mean, this gives any item that is already in my closet an instant update. Buttt since I do really want to stay in the game this time, plus I can not justify anything in this price range, let’s count. 1 down, 4 to go. LONDON RAIN

Back in London, there were not much sunglasses needed. Umbrella’s on the other hand… This was the only day I forgot to bring an umbrella as my +1 to the shows and I had to pay for it with flat hair and soaking wet everything. I guess that is where this little post-London, pre-Paris cold I am currently dealing with is coming from. (+1 in Paris will be anti-flu everything!) Apart from the rain, this was the perfect day to wear this collarless white stained shirt I had been wanting to wear so badly. I have this thing going on with collarless shirts lately and I do not know what it is about them exactly but I feel a slight obsession coming up.
