BEAUTY TALK WITH TITIA

Titia is one of those girls that does not need a lot of make-up to look gorgeous. I got to know her while I was renting an office desk at The Collector, where she works as a executive fashion editor. She regularly pops in the office without wearing any make-up and still manages to somehow magically glow. Time to figure out her beauty ritual. Your morning ritual? After my shower I clean my face with milk, because it then feels like I have to use less day cream. First I apply Centella Recovery Skin-Salve from Kiehl’s and then REN Hydra-Calm Global Protection Day Cream. During summer I always add something with high SPF. Now that I have my lash extensions, that is about it. Not having to put mascara on in the morning and taking it off at night is just festive! Other favorites are everything that I once bought in bulk from Dior and Carmex, which smells like hell but it is the best thing for dry lips. Your last beauty purchase? Sephora Express Nail Polish Remover, which is the best beauty invention ever! I used to use up to 300 cotton balls and still have stains left on my fingers, but this is my solution. Make-up look in one word? Natural, I do not use a lot. From day to night I add mascara and sometimes eyeliner and my signature lipstick, which is Ariane Inden 1022. Favorite perfume? Tom Ford Black. The ultimate product that still does not exist, would be… Those lashes are already a true invention to me, however I would love something that makes depilating my eyebrows an easy task. Anything you wish you would dare to try, but you never did? Most of the time I just do it. What about your hair? Just like Anna I wash it once a week. Oh, and I get a haircut probably once a year! Sometimes I wish I had curls. But washing your hair once a week is probably also my biggest beauty tip. Your hair has to get used to it in the beginning, but will feel healthier than ever after. Biggest beauty failure? I once dyed my hair blonde, but it came out pretty yellowish. Also, the light in my bathroom is super bad and I used to just randomly smudge my foundation on my face and walk out the door without looking in a decent mirror first. Very regularly I found myself in the bathroom of a restaurant or café frightened by my reflection. Sometimes I can also tell by the look on my boyfriends face that I applied too much. ORANGE BLOSSOM

The biggest benefit of having your workspace in a store is that it is not hard to get inspired. The biggest disadvantage is that it is super tempting to leave with an empty wallet at the end of the day. Ever since my boyfriend and I moved in together, I have been on constant hunt for things that make the apartment look super cozy. Now, what is easier than to add scented candles, tons and tons of them? My problem with scented candles is that I am not too fond of the regular vanilla and lavender ones you usually bump into. These ‘Orange Blossom’ ones are just special enough and can be found at The Collector (Eerste van der Helststraat 1D in Amsterdam) and I can tell you they smell gorgeous. There is also Thyme, Mown Grass and Jasmin available and I am waiting for the day my favorite -Fig- gets restocked. You can find them here.

Sometimes all an outfit needs is a fantastic coat. You all know how much I adore simplicity and this shirt and jeans is nothing more than simpleness. The coat though adds that extra little something that I always try to add when I get dressed in the morning. Edun coat (The Collector), Zara shirt, Dr Denim jeans and Isabel Marant boots.

I can’t believe I made it through one of my busiest weeks thusfar. I headed to the H&M showroom to get a sneak peek of the new fall/winter 2011 collection. On Wednesday The Collector opened the doors of their new office/showroom and celebrated it with champagne. Speaking of celebrations, I Love Fashion News had their 2nd anniversary party on Friday and gave me their very first bike, YAY! I ended my week with a little photoshoot for Leroy’s blog, but I’ll tell and show you more about that later. ph/ Lisa Galesloot

There’s a new webshop in town and I’m trying my best to protect my wallet from it. Suzette van Dam simply makes a selection of her own favourites for The Collector. I guess great minds think alike, since it’s the perfect mix for me. Some very nice and affordable basics, mixed with a little vintage and with more expensive, but awesome stuff that made me the most greedy person in the entire world this morning when I got to see the collection. I fell in love with the Anya Hindmarch zip pouches with funny texts like ‘camera’ or ‘parking change’, the Nina Peter gloves which are absolutely brilliant, the Act1 dress and the Drome vest. There’s a pop-up store open on friday, saturday and sunday from 1 to 6 pm at Kerkstraat 67 in Amsterdam. I’d recommend to go there and have a look yourself!
