EMERGENCY BEAUTY TRAVEL KIT

As you all know, Miss afterDRK herself is off to The Big Apple for a full month. This means all types of transportation, weather circumstances and serious time management. Oh, and not to mention chaos of course! Reason enough for me to have a little sit down with her and talk about the right beauty equipment for her travels. After all, come prepared or not at all. For all the ladies who wander and wonder, here’s my advice on an emergency beauty travel kit.

It’s been a while since I last talked about making my skin look as radiant as it gets. And even though that routine is still pretty much the same, here is some tips for that extra glow. Now you could say using a highlighter is cheating, but adding a little something never really hurt anyone, did it? The best highlighters I am currently switching between are: Lustre Drops by MAC My most recent acquisition. These tiny little bottles (they only contain 18ml.) of magic notably showed up in every backstage corner during Fashion Week. They were to be found in every make-up artists bag of necessities and that made me want to have it, badly. I got it probably the first week I arrived in LA and what I like about it is that it is very (read: véry) subtle. It can be mixed with foundation/day cream/BB cream too, but I am yet to test that out since I mainly use it as just a highlighter after I applied the rest of my make-up. Just the smallest drop of lustre is enough for a tad bit on the bridge of my nose and cheekbones. Terracotta by Guerlain This is probably a more extreme version of the Lustre Drops. It’s a powder and definitely asks for the less is more formula. Kind of like a bronzer – but lighter – and that is exactly how I use it. Super little amounts, with a huge *ss brush. Touche Éclat by YSL Touche Éclat is mostly known for hiding pimples, blackheads, lumps and bumps, which it doesn’t do very well, since it was never meant to be used as a concealer in the first place. As I am fairly blessed with my skin and rarely have one pimple to hide, nor do I get dark circles – let alone bags under my eyes (* knocks on wood) – I liked to use this as a highlighter from the moment I got it. My very favorite way to use any of these is to dab a little on the inner-corners of my eyes. Make me look instantly awake. Shine on, crazy diamond! Lustre Drops [Sun Rush], MAC; Terracotta [Sweep of Sunlight], Guerlain (this one is so old I don’t even think it is available any longer); Touche Éclat [2, Luminous Ivory], YSL.
