A new category on afterDRK.com featuring ‘what’s on our mind this month’, including but not limited to colors to wear, icons to follow, books to read, exhibitions to see, designers to watch and beauty stuff to buy. The List #1.
Winter white is what it is all about this month. It is the color of the coldest season and a definite style injection to rejuvenate ones wardrobe. White is the second easiest hue to wear head to toe – black being the first – and easy to mix with all kinds of other neutrals.
If you are not feeling comfortable in a head to toe look in one tint, throw in a grey scarf or camel coat to still look your best. Avoid black unless it is shoes ór you are opting for the monochrome look à la Theory Pre-Fall ’14.
Theory recently went from Theyskens’ Theory to just Theory without an official explanation from either the label or the designer. Nevertheless, their Pre-Fall 2014 collection is pretty amazing in its simplicity. Black, whites, nudes and just one piece of gray, showed mostly with Margiela-style (in a good way!) wide waist belts.
Great pants, well tailored shirts and perfect blazers are really all we need next Fall (or anytime for that matter).
Chinese model Tian Yi is not only kicking it big time when it comes to launching her career (she only started in 2011, so she is still kind of a newcomer), her street style is just fresher than fresh. She appeared on our sartorial radar only a little while ago, but has been a regular on our Pinterest Style board ever since.
The Statement Accessory
It’s been said once and it will be said again. Monogrammed or number-stamped necklaces (8 stands for luck in Chinese) are great compliment recipients.
They are perfect for everyday wear and – apart from gétting a lot of compliments – gift compliments to just about any outfit too.
In celebration of her 40th(!) birthday, Kate gets her own exhibition by journalist-turned-artist Russel Marshall. Kate Moss: 40 – A Retrospective will be held at the Intimate Modern Gallery in London from January 17 until February 15. Smart Fashion Week timing.
The Beauty Buy
In an attempt to take the style resolutions serious, all lip balms got ditched and replaced by Hurraw!, a 100% natural/vegan/raw/fair trade/organic (how LA!) option that doesn’t melt. The first and most effortless step to an all green and clean beauty cabinet.
