After my post about the Zara heels, I took a genuine dive into my newly constructed walk-in wardrobe and found some more of those highstreet gems. What are your absolute favorite affordable pieces? Here is few of what I found:
Angora Sweater, H&M Trend (I also have this in black, it is amazing!); Top, H&M Trend, T-Shirt, American Apparel.

Found a perfectly sheer tanktop at the H&M showroom the other day. It is from the fall/winter 2013 collection and will be available – also in red – probably somewhere in August.

The people in the back of these pictures were probably thinking ‘where is that hat going with that girl?!’ Yes, these pieces from H&M’s The New Icons collection are not called ‘icons’ just for the models wearing them in the campaign pictures. These pieces do not need a lot of anything else, mixed with just a simple tanktop and a pair of jeans they appear to still turn heads in the streets of Amsterdam.
Hat and Leather Jacket, H&M The New Icons collection; Tanktop, Nowhere (cut from a dress); Jeans, Diesel; Lipstick, an old DSquared2 for Mac.

To be completely honest, I am a rookie at being green, it is most definitely not always on top of my to do list. Despite the fact that I am not the kind of person that only flushes her toilet once a day, neither do I fill up my grocery car with just biological food, the launch of the H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection – an exclusive range of items ready to be worn to any event that comes with a descent carpet (preferably a green one) – has made me think.
If they can produce an eco-conscious collection that does not look eco-conscious if you know what I mean, I would not mind being a bit more ‘eco-friendly’ every now and then. I do little things though that I should most certainly do a bit more consciously…
I do everything by bike when possible. Through rains and snowstorms that is. Meetings in other cities are done by public transport. The thing is that my parents live exactly 121km away and sometimes taking my boyfriends car is inevitable.
I try to print as little as possible. Hello technology – read: iPhone – and everything being in there!
I reuse all incoming boxes. Buying boxes for sending things is completely unnecessary when there is a pile of boxes ready to be re-used.
Of course I do a bit of waste sorting. Glass goes with glass, paper goes with paper, simple as that.
I never throw my clothes away. Remember I told you about my big spring wardrobe cleanse? Some of the things are going to be sold at the next Closet Affair and a couple of the bags I filled with unwanted clothes are going to an H&M store nearby. They are currently collecting ‘worn, torn and/or hopelessly out of style’ clothes to reuse, recycle or turn them into raw materials and new products (more info here). Good and green cause, no? Now tell me, what are your eco-friendly tips?
